Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of edaravone in treatment of patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods Eighty patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomly devided into treatment group and control group.Patients in control group(n=40)were treated with conventional therapy, and patients in treatment group(n=40)were treated with edaravone(30 mg,bid)combined with conventional therapy within 48h after the onset of acute cerebral infarction.Neurological deficit scores of patients from both groups before and 14 d,21 d and 90d after treatments were studied, and their functional outcomes and adverse events were recorded. Results Neurological deficit scores and clinical outcome in patients of both groups were significantly improved after the treatment(P0.01),and the degree of improvement in patients of treatment group was much greater than that of patients in control group(P0.05).There was no serious adverse events reported in patients of both groups during the treatment course. Conclusion Edaravone is safe and effective in treatment of patients with acute cerebral infarction.
