Abstract

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) combined with CT guided percutaneous radiofrequency ablation(RFA) in treating advanced primary hepatocellular carcinoma.Materials and Methods 31 patients with a total of 38 malignant hepatic lesions were enrolled in this study.Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization was performed in all patients, which was followed by CT guided percutaneous RFA under general anesthesia.A follow up 2-36 months was conducted. The complications and the therapeutic results were observed. Results For all patients,A total of 43 RFA procedures were conducted for 38 lesions. No severe complications occurred.Complete necrosis was observed in 12 tumors and partial necrosis in 16 tumors. Conclusion CT guided percutaneous RFA under general anesthesia is a feasible technique for the treatment of advanced primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
