Abstract

A flood routing model is established by using the finite volume method, based on the two-dimensional unsteady flow equations.Numerical flux, impoundage and flood level are calculated hydrodynamically, according to different terrain conditions and flood dispatching schemes, and effects of the subgrade volume, culvert size, earthwork volume are also considered here. The model is firstly verified by the historical flood data of Xiaoqing River flood retarding basin, then it is used to simulate flood processes of natural flood storage and partition flood storage. The simulated results are basically consistent with historical records. This research serves as a proper research method for engineering construction and flood impact assessment.
