Abstract

[Objective] To study project design and flood prevention evaluating method in flood retarding basin.[Method] A flood routing model was established using finite volume method based on two-dimensional unsteady flow equations.Numerical flux,impoundage and flood level were calculated hydrodynamically according to different terrain conditions and flood dispatching schemes,and effects of the subgrade volume,culvert size,earthwork volume were also considered here.[Result] The model was firstly verified by the historic flood data of Xiaoqing river flood retarding basin,then used to simulate flood processes of natural flood storage and partition flood storage,respectively.The simulated results were basically consistent with historic record.[Conclusion] The study provided a proper research method for engineering construction and flood impact assessment.
