Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of soybean isoflavonet on lipid metabolism and weight control of experimental hyperlipidemia rats and obese rats, and to study its mechanism. Methods Male obese rats and atherosclerotic rats which induced by high fat diet were randomly divided into four groups respectively. The control group was gavaged with normal saline and the soy isoflavonet groups were gavaged with water solutions of soy isoflavonet at different doses(60,120 and 360mg/kg,respectively).And body weight, fat weight, serum total triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) were measured after four weeks. Results The concentrations of TC,TG and LDL-C in middle and high dose group were all significantly decreased compared with control group. And the serum level of HDL-C in high dose group significantly increased with body weight, and the fat weight of obsess rats decreased compared with control group. Conclusions Soy isoflavonet may be beneficial on weight control and serum lipids reducing by regulating lipid metabolism.
