Abstract
Objective : To explore the diagnosis and microsurgical treatment of meningiomas in the sellar region. Methods : 26 cases were operated with microsurgical technology , including subfrontal approach in 10,pterional approach in 13,and longitudinal split approach in 3. Results : In 21 patients, the surgical exposure with satisfaction were 14(53 .85% ),and in 22(84.62% )cases the tumor were totally removed, 23 (88 .46% ) patients made recovery after surgery, no cases died of operation, 11 cases got good results through follow-up survey. Conclusion : Meningiomas in the sellar region can be misdiagnosed as pituitary adenomas and craniopharyngiomas by the CT and MRI. Microsurgical treatment by pterional approach is beneficial to the removal of the tumor totally.
