Microsurgical treatment of sellar region meningiomas by pterional approach

Objective To study the effective methods of microsurgical treatment in sellar region meningiomas.Methods The clinical features including diagnosis and microsurgery of 23 consecutive patients treated by pterional approach were reviewed retrospectively.Results Total resection was achieved in 17 cases, partial in 6 cases. All patients were followed up postoperatively ranging from one month to 6 years.Conclusion The appropriate surgical approaches and microsurgery for the removal of sellar region meningiomas are the key factors for achieving good surgical result.
