Abstract

Address forms are the words speakers use to designate the person they are talking to.The word xiao jie is a common appellation in our daily life in contemporary Chinese language.Based on the opposite notions of power and solidarity,the paper aims to analyze the historical evolution,pragmatic features and communicative functions of the word xiao jie.
