Abstract
Objective To invetigate relationship between koilocytosis in Thinprep cytologic test(TCT) and Human papillomavirus(HPV) infection,to confirm the value of koilocyte as diagnostic role in cervical HPV infection using cellular morphology method. Methods 200 koilocytes of TCT samples were collcted from January,2006 to August,2008 in The Second People's Hospitial of Foshan.PCR-HPVDNA assays were used as control to verify HPV infection tested by using TCT assay. Results Typical koilcyte as a diagnostic maker in HPV infection, the Accuracy rate was 81.65%(89/109) compared with PCR-HPV-DNA assay. Conclusion Koilocyte in TCT can be a useful morphological marker for diagnosing HPV infection, and the quantity of HPV-DNA is proportional to nuclear hyperplasia and atypia of koilocyte.
