EXPLORATION OF THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN CAROTID ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND INSULIN RESISTANCE AMONG PATIENTS WITH CEREBRAL ARTERIAL THROMBOSIS

[Objective]To explore the association between carotid atherosclerosis and insulin resistance(IR)among patients with cerebral arterial thrombosis.[Methods]There were 160 patiens with cerebrovascular disease confirmed by cerebral angiography in this study,70 cases with transient ischemic attack and 90 cases with cerebral infarctin were collected in the study,and the were divided into insulin resistance group and insulin non-resistance group according to the carbohydrate tolerance test,then the situation of atherosclerosis were determined by Doppler ultrasonography.[Results]The prevalence of carotid abnormality in insulin resistance group was 81.2%,and in insulin non-resistance group was 41.4%(P﹤0.05). There are significant difference between(P﹤0.05).[Conclusion]Carotid atherosclerosis of patients with cerebral arterial thrombosis had close association with insulin resistance,which indicates that the insulin resistance was an important risk factor for cerebral arterial thrombosis.
