Abstract

Objective To study serum levels of c- reactive protein( CRP) and interleukin- 6( IL- 6) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea- hypopnea syndrome( OSAHS),and to explore the therapeutic effects of nasal continuous positive airway pressure( nCPAP) to CRP and IL-6 in patients with OSAHS. Methods 50 OSAHS patients and 50 healthy controls were enrolled in study, all cases were received polysomnography and venous blood collection, serum level of CRP and IL- 6 were compared in two group,CRP and IL- 6 were compared before and after 6 months of nCPAP treatment in 33 moderate- to- severe OSAHS patients. Results CRP and IL- 6 were higher in OSAHS group( P 0. 05),and lowest SaO2( LSaO2) and mean SaO2( MSaO2) were lower in control group( P 0. 05). The multiple regression analysis showed that CRP was significantly correlated with AHI,LSaO2and MSaO2; IL-6 was significantly correlated with AHI and MSaO2( P 0. 05). CRP and IL-6 were no difference before and after 7 days of nCPAP treatment( P 0. 05),both CRP and IL- 6 were decreased significantly after 6 months of nCPAP treatment( P 0. 05). Conclusion CRP and IL-6 is increased in patients with OSAHS,CRP and IL- 6 correlate with severity of OSAHS and hypoxia degree. CRP and IL- 6 obviously is decreased after long- term nCPAP treatment,nCPAP could improve inflammation in OSAHS patients.
