Abstract

Objective To study the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) in differential diagnosis of polypoid lesions in gallbladder. Methods CEUS and conventional ultrasound imaging obtained from 32 cases of polypoid lesions in gallbladder were analyzed in comparison with pathological diagnosis. Results Postoperative pathological examinations showed gallbladder carcinoma in 7 cases, gallbladder polyposis in 20 cases, gallbladder adenoma in 4 cases and biliary argilia in 1 case. The results of CEUS in these 32 cases of polypoid lesions in gallbladder demonstrated that gallbladder carcinoma in 8 cases, benign lesions including gallbladder adenoma and gallbladder polyposis in 23 cases and biliary argilia in 1 case. The results of conventional ultrasound imaging in these 32 cases showed gallbladder carcinoma in 9 cases, benign lesions including gallbladder adenoma and gallbladder polyposis in 21 cases and biliary argilia in 2 cases. The diagnostic accuracy of CEUS was significantly higher than that of conventional ultrasound imaging(90.6% vs 65.6 %;χ2 =5.85,P0.05) in comparison with pathological diagnosis. Conclusion CEUS is helpful in differential diagnosis of polypoid lesions in gallbladder.
