Abstract
Objective To assess the effects of structural psychological intervention during the perioperative time of operation . Methods Sixty volunteers with breast cancer were divided into two groups, an experimental group and a control group, with each group having 30 subjects. All the patients were tested for the mental status and tonus of sympathetic nerves by using psychological rating scales (SAS, SDS, SCL-90, SES, TCSQ) and electronic skin resistometry (PI). The patients in the control group were given routine care. The patients in the experimental group were, on the basis of routine care, given structural psychological intervention including education in breast cancer, stress handling and coping techniques and psychological support etc. Results The scores in SAS, SDS, SCL-90, NC were significantly decreased(P0.01, for all), and scores in SES, PC, PI were significantly increased in the patients of the experimental group as compared with those in the controls (P0.01, P0.05,respectively). Conclusion Structural psychological intervention can effectively improve patients’ psychological and behavioral status.
