Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacies of glassfiber post with metal post on restoring residual root and crown. Methods 92 cases, with 107 residual root and crowns after root canal treated, were randomly divided into two groups.Glassfiber post and metal post were used to manufacture the post-core respectively, and all the teeth were restored with porcelain fused metal crown. After 6 months to 2 years, the clinical efficacy was evaluated by the occurrence of crown loose or fall off, post-core loose or fall off or post broken, root fracture, gingival discoloration etc. Results The success rates of fiber post and mold metal post were 98.3%and 83.3 respectively, and there was a significant difference between them. Conclusion Glassfiber post is more effectivethan metal post in residual root and crown restoration, with benefits such as the perfect color and the high success rate.
