The research progress of AIDS related diarrhea treated with traditional Chinese medicine

Objective To review the literature of AIDS related diarrhea treated with traditional Chinese medicine.Methods Etiology,pathogenesis and treatment of AIDS related diarrhea with TCM were summarized after reading relevant articles published in recent years.Results The syndromes of AIDS related diarrhea include deficiency of Qi,deficiency of Yang,qi depression,dampness and heat evil.The etiology nature is intermingled with deficiency and excess.The key pathogenesis is deficiency of spleen and deficiency of Yang.The common syndrome types of AIDS related diarrhea are insufficiency of the spleen with overabundance of dampness,damp heat in the spleen and the stomach,weakness of the spleen and the stomach,weakness of the spleen and the kidney.The main treating methods are tonifying spleen,accompanied with relieving dampness,warming Yang,tonifying kidney,astringent therapy and smoothing the liver.Treatment based on syndrome differentiation shows satisfactory curative effect,as same as set prescription and acupuncture and moxibustion.Conclusion It shows satisfactory curative effect treating AIDS related diarrhea with traditional Chinese medicine.We should give full play to the role of Chinese medicine treatment.
