Abstract
The process of synthesizing m-Hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid by diazotization and hydrolysis of rn-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid in acid medium was developed and investigated. The effects of dosage of NaNO2 and H2S04, temperature and duration of diazotization, as well as temperature, concentration of dilute H2SO4 and duration during hydrolysis on the yield of m-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid were investigated. The experimental results showed the optimum conditions to be as follows: NaNO2: m-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid = 1.05: 1 (mol), H2SO4 rn-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid = 2.0: 1 (mol), diazotization temperature 9℃, diazotization time 2h, hydrolysis temperature 80℃, concentration of dilute H2SO4 10% and hydrolysis time 1 h. Under these conditions, the yield was 90.95%.
