Effectiveness Evaluation of Rehabilitation Nursing after Total Hip Replacement

Abstract
Objective To investigate the method and effectiveness of rehabilitation nursing after total hip replacement(THR).Methods Sixty-four patients treated with THR in our hospital from Mar.2005 to Dec.2008 were randomly divided into the control group and the rehabilitation group with 32 patients in each group.The control group was given regular nursing.The rehabilitation group was given comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation nursing in addition to regular nursing.Harris hip scores were conducted at the end of 1 month and 3 months after the operation.Results After 3 months of operation,the overall outcome were excellent in 26 cases and better in 6 cases in the rehabilitation group according to Harris hip score while the overall outcome were excellent in 10 cases,better in 14 cases and good in 8 cases in the control group.There were significant differences in Harris hip scores after 1 month and 3 months between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion Comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation nursing plays an important role in the rehabilitation of the hip function and preventing postoperative complications after THR.It is an effective measure for enhancing the treatment of THR.
