Abstract

Clan in Hebei developed gradually from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China without much disturbance even though rural clan evolved slowly from the Qing Dynasty the Republic of China because of both internal and external factors.The rapid decline of clan in Hebei was mainly caused by external impact rather than the abolition of old institutions and the spread of new ideas.
