Abstract
Objective To assess left ventricular diastolic function in essential hypertensive patients using mitral annulus velocity determined by quantitative tissue velocity imaging (QTVI) . Methods Thirty normal subjects and 60 patients hypertension were studied. The mitral annulus velocities during early diastole(Ve) ,atrial contraction(Va) were measured by quantitative tissue velocity imaging(QTVI) , and then Ve/Va calculated. The blood flow velocity of mitral during early diastole(E) and atrial contraction(A) were also measured by pulsed Doppler echocardiography and E/A ration was calculated. Results There were significant difference in measuring values between normal subjects and hypertensive patients. There was no significant difference between Ve/Va of the mitral annulus and E/A ratio in hypertensive patients,but positive cases were found by QTVI more than that by pulsed Doppler echocardiography. Conclusion The mitral annular velocity determined by quantitative tissue velocity imaging accurately evaluate the left ventricular diastolic function in hypertensive patients.
