Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of bilateral uterine artery embolization in treatment of hysteromyoma.Methods:50 patients with hysteromyoma received uterine artery embolization by interventional technique from May 2006 to September 2009;a special 5F uterine artery catheter and the embolic agents of appropriate proportion(Pingyangmycin 8mg+iodine oil 10ml(French imported)+lidocaine 2ml) were used in the operation,a ratio of 1∶ 1(the size of hysteromyoma/embolic agents) was adopted;for the cases with large hysteromyoma or multiple hysteromyoma or rich blood supply, gelatin sponge particles were added to enhance embolization. Results:The success rate of intubation was 100%.After follow up for 3~12 months,B-ultrasound or CT showed that the volume of hysteromyoma at 3 months after operation reduced by 40%~60% averagely and the volume of hysteromyoma at 6 months after operation reduced by 60%~90% averagely. The hysteromyoma of 12 cases disappeared, accompanied by obvious decrease of menstrual volume, the clinical symptoms were relieved obviously;no severe complication occurred. Conclusion:Interventional treatment is a safe, effective and minimally invasive method for treatment of hysteromyoma, especially suitable for the patients with hysteromyoma who are young, desire for fertility or unwilling to have operation. The embolic agents of appropriate proportion are better for the cases with large hysteromyoma or multiple hysteromyoma.
