Abstract

【Objective】 To observe the clinical curative effect of selective uterine artery embolization(UAE) in the treatment of hysteromyoma.【Methods】 Selective uterine artery embolization(UAE) was performed in 73 patients with hysteromyoma in our hospital from May 2007 to August 2009.Follow-up was finished at 3 month,6 month and 12 month after operation. The changes in clinical symptoms, the size of tumor and so on were compared before and after UAE in those patients so as to evaluate its effect.【Results】 Follow-up of 3 to 12 months was performed in 73 patients. The significant improvement in clinical symptoms occurred and the average rates of tumor size reduction at 3,6 and 12 month after operation were 28.20%,56.50% and 69.50%,respectively.No severe complication occurred.【Conclusion】 Uterine artery embolization(UAE) for hysteromyoma has advantages such as good curative effect, slight trauma, security, reservation of uterus and shorter hospital stay, especially remaining the integrality of uterus and reproductive function, and better life quality.
