Metaphorical cognition and interpretation of emotional metaphor

Abstract

Previously as a rhetorical device of intra language, metaphor is now considered to be an important mode of thinking and plays a major role in cognitive activities. Metaphor in language derives from the metaphoric characteristics of thinking; consequently, metaphor in language is basically both a means and a result of cognitive activities. Emotional metaphor is in essence a cognitive phenomenon, and a product of interaction of different semantic domains.
