Abstract
Objective To investigate the prognostic value of the model for end-stage liver disease score in patients with liver cirrhosis and severe hepatitis. Methods The MELD and Child-Pugh scores of 228 patients with liver cirrhosis and 156 patients with severe hepatitis were recorded, and the prognostic value were compared. Results MELD scores had significant relationship with Child-Pugh scores, with the reference of 0.74 (P0.05). MELD scores had more predictability than that of Child-Pugh scores(Z =1.96, P0.05). Conclusion The MELD score had higher prognostic value of mortality rate in patients with liver cirrhosis and severe hepatitis than Child-Pugh scores.
