Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effects of sclerotherapy of esophageal varices (EV) on portal hypertensive gastropathy.Method: Retrospective analysis was performed over 86 follow-up results after operation and its cause was discussed. Results: Before injection the positive rate among 14 cases of PHG is 16.3%. After injection the occurrence rate of PHG is 84.9%(73/86) which was increased significantly. The difference is significance (p0.05). Conclusion: Sclerotherapy for esophageal varices (EV) will significantly cause the development of PHG.
