Abstract
Objective To observe the impact of esophageal variceal ligation(EAL) on portal hypertensive gastropathy(PHG) in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods Ninty eight patients with esophageal varices were treated by variceal ligation under endoscope guide before varices disappeared or shrinked. The occurrence and aggravation of PHG were checked on time. Results PHG existed in 80(80.1%) and 86(86.1%) patients before and after ligation, respectively(P 0.05).But 29 cases(29.59%) developed to severe PHG with only 10 cases(10.20%) before the ligation and the difference was significant(P 0.01).Conclusions PHG might become severe shortly after EVL,which should call clinicians' concerns.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
