Abstract
Objective To compare the influence of different incisions and methods on histological changes of corneal endothelium in cataract surgery. Methods Patients with cataract were operated on by phacoemulsification with clear cornea incision,or scleral tunnel incision or extra capsul cataract extraction small incision. The density of corneal endothelium was measured via TOPCON SP-2000P specular microscopy preoperatively and 3,6 and 12 months postoperatively. Results The difference of changes in the density of corneal endothelium were not significant among the three different incisions(F=0.62-0.99,P0.05),and the difference of percentages of endothelium loss was not significantly either(χ2=0.76-0.91,P0.05). Conclusion Cataract operation with different incisions and methods does not produce significant influence on the loss of corneal endothelial cells.
