Abstract

The complex of terbium(Ⅲ) and camphoric acid with 1,10-phenanthroline was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR analysis. The composition of complexes was identified to be Tb2(CA)3(phen)2(CA:camphoric acid,phen:1,10-phenanthroline).The excitation and emission spectra of three complexes were recorded at room temperature. The fluorescence spectra of ternary complexes showed that the optimum excitation wavelength was 344.0 nm and 329 nm,respectively. In emission spectra the four emission bands were attributed to terbium transitions of 5D4-7F6(490.0 nm),5D4-7F5(545.0 nm),5D47F4(584.0 nm),and 5D4-7F3(619.0 nm),respectively. The fluorescence studies indicated that the incorporation of lanthanum and yttrium increased the fluorescence intensity of europium ions remarkably, and the influence of lanthanum was greater than yttrium.
