MIFEPRISTONE TREATMENT OF UTERINE LEIOMYOMA IN PERIMENOPAUSAL PATIENTS

Abstract

ObjectiveTo study the responese of uterine leiomyoma in perimenopause patients to mifepristone. MethodsTwenty perimenopausal patients with uterine leiomyoma were treated with 12.5 mg of mifepristone daily for 3 months as mifepristone group,18 perimenopausal patients with uterine leiomyoma without mifepristone treatment were observed for 3 months as control group. ResultsAfter 3 months of mifepristone treatment,the uterine and leiomyoma were significantly decreased in size in mifepristone group(P 0.01),while no significant changes were observed in control group(P 0.05). ConclusionMifepristone is effective in the treatment of perimenopausal patients with uterine leiomyoma and it is a nice remedial method.
