Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the potassium channel gene expression of myocardial sleeves of pulmonary vein in rabbits with rapid atrial pacing.[Methods] 20 rabbits were divided into two groups, which were the control group with sham operation and the right atrial pacing(RAP) group at 600 bpm.The messenger ribonucleic acid(mRNA) of specimen was measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.[Results] Compared with the control group,Kv1.5(Ultra-rapid delayed rectifier K~+current,I_kur) mRNA expression in the RAP group was reduced by 23.5%(P0.01) following seven days of RAP.[Conclusions] Rapid atrial pacing can decrease the potassium channel gene expression in myocardial sleeves of pulmonary vein.
