Abstract
Objective To compare the efficacy of greenlight photoselective vaporization of prostate(PVP) and transuretharal resection of prostate(TURP). Methods A total of 88 cases of BPH were divided into 2 groups;of them 44 cases underwent PVP and 44,TURP. The operative time, the length of hospital stay after operation, catheterization time, blood loss,IPSS,Qmax and complications were observed. Results Comparison between PVP group and TURP group included the following :Two groups were similar in the operating time(P0.05).Remarkable differences were found in length of hospital stay after operation, catheterization time, and intraoperative blood loss(P0.05). No significant differences were found in IPSS and Qmax (P0.05). Conclusions The PVP is safe and efficacious for older patients with BPH,with advantages of less blood loss, better tolerance and few complications .
