Abstract

Objective To investigate clinical effect of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine treating senile primary hypertension, which made guidance for clinical application. Methods 145 senile patients with primary hypertension were selected as subjects from March 2008 to March 2013 in our hospital and they were completely random divided into the observation group(n=73) and the control group(n=72).The control group was given routine western medicine such as extended release nifedipine tablets while the observation group was given traditional Chinese medicine decoction based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect of the two groups was compared. Results After treatment, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the two groups decreased, and the observation group decreased obviously compared to the control group(P0.05);the total effective rate of the observation group [91.78%(67/73)] was higher than that of the control group [80.56%(58/72)](P0.05);two groups of patients had no severe function damage of liver and renal and other serious adverse reaction. Conclusion The clinical effect of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine treating senile primary hypertension is significant. It is worthy of wide promotionn in clinic.
