Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the protective effect of resveratrol on chemical-induced liver injury in female mice. MethodsThe liver injury models were induced by administration of carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4) or D-galactosamine(D-GalN) into female mice. The activities of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and triglycerides(TG) level were determined. The liver index was tested. The activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathion peroxidase(GSH-Px) as well as levels of malondialdehyde(MDA) and nitric oxide(NO) in liver tissue were also measured.ResultsAfter treatment orally for 5 days, resveratol remarkedly reduced the activities of serum AST and ALT as well as the level of TG in female mice, inhibited the increase of MDA and NO levels and the decrease of SOD and GSH-Px activities, lowered the enlarged liver index.ConclusionResveratrol has protective effect on the chemical liver injury induced by CCl_4 and D-GalN.
