Abstract

Objective To investigate the expressions and clinical significance of lung resistance protein (LRP), and anti nuclear antigen Ki 67 in thyroid carcinoma in order to offer theoretical foundation for diagnosis and treatment of thyroid carcinoma. Methods SP immunohistochemical technique was used to detect expressions of Ki 67 and LRP in 90 cases of thyroid carcinoma. Results Both Ki 67 and LRP were highly expressed in thyroid carcinoma, while no expressions were found in the tissues next to the carcinoma. The average LI (Lableing Index, LI) of Ki 67 was 44 00±37 64 in thyroid carcinoma; LI was 55 94±37 64 in papillary thyroid carcinoma in average; in follicular thyroid carcinoma LI was 14 62±26 11.There was a significant difference between papillary and follicular carcinoma ( P0.05 ).The average positive rate of LRP in thyroid adenocarcinoma was 88 9% (80/90),93 75% (60/64) in papillary thyroid carcinoma, whereas 76 9% (20/26) in follicular thyroid carcinoma. It was significantly higher in the papillary than in the follicular. The expression of Ki 67 was positively related to the expression of LRP ( r =0 42, P 0 01).Conclusions Both Ki 67 and LRP were highly expressed in thyroid carcinoma. It was necessary to choose suitable inhibitors against multi drug resistance protein in the clinical chemotherapy of thyroid carcinoma. Detection of Ki 67 and LRP would be helpful in clinical diagnosis and treatment of the tumor.
