The coupling relationship and coordinated development between tourism economy and ecological environment:A case study of Xi′an City

Aim To study the relationship between tourism economy and eco environment,and the interaction mechanism of harmonious development to offer theoretical reference to the sustainable development of tourism.Methods The complexity theory system is applied to construct the conceptual model and the mathematic model of the relationship between tourism economy and eco environment,in order to achieve an empirical analysis on the harmonious development of tourism economy and the eco environment of Xi′an City during the years between 2001 and 2009.Results The alternative augmentation and the coupling coordination level of tourism economy and the eco environment has improved from being barely coordinated to being well coordinated.The pattern of growth has changed from a tourism economy lagging behind to a tourism economy synchronically to the eco environment in development.The tourism economy and the eco environment share a positive interaction and harmonious development with a coupling coordination.Conclusion The coupling coordination of tourism economy and eco environment is the basic guarantee and crucial aspect of the sustainable development of tourism.The appraisal system of coupling coordination can conduct effective analysis of the coupling relationship and the stage of coordinated development,serving as an important instrument for the quantitative analysis of the sustainable development of tourism.
