Abstract

Ecological footprint is a new method for quantify measuring the sustainable development.The ecological footprint method was used to analyze the ecological footprint and ecological capacity in Lanzhou City during 1996 to 2005.The results showed that ecological footprint and ecological capacity per capital increased from 1.66hm2,1.56hm2 in 1996 to 2.15hm2,1.11hm2 in 2005.Ecological deficit increased from 0.10hm2 in 1996 to 1.04hm2 in 2005.Principal component analysis method was applied to analyze the main factors affecting the ecological footprint.At present Lanzhou City's ecological footprint per capital has gone beyond ecological capacity.Therefore we should pay more attention on the pattern of development.
