Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effects of cepharanthine hydrochloride(CH) against acute fatty liver in mice. Methods: Acute fatty liver mice model was produced by injecting Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate(DXM) injection in the animals’ abdomen and feeding mice with high fat diet at the same time. The mice were treated with different doses(low, middle and high) for injection. The triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT) in the serum and the TG,TC,superoxide dismutase(SOD),Maeic Dialdehyde(MDA),glutathion peroxidase(GSH-PX) in the liver were measured.Liver tissues were observed with optical microscope. Results: Compared with control group, the model group developed middle-heavy steatosis with significant increase on level of serum ALT,AST,TG,TC,liver tissue homogenates TG,TC,MDA(P0.01),simultaneously with decrease on tissue homogenates SOD and GSH-Px(P0.01).Compared with model group, the level of serumTG,TC,ALT,AST,liver tissue homogenatesTG,TC,MDA decreased(P0.01,P0.05),simultaneously with decrease on tissue homogenates SOD and GSH-PX(P0.01) in the high-dose CH treatment group.Pathological changes in liver were improved in CH-treated groups. Conclusions: CH had good therapeutic action on acutefatty liver. The possible mechanism was that CH can improve antioxidase activity and depress lipid peroxidation of fatty liver.
