SCT three-dimensional reconstruction of adult middle ear and inner ear

Abstract

Objective:To establish an anatomic model of adult middle ear and inner ear by using spiral CT three-dimen-sional (3D)reconstruction.Materials and Methods:The middle ear and inner ear in ninety adult cases were performed by thin slice spiral CT examination with slice thickness of 1mm or 2mm and small FOV(FOV=5cm).The reconstruction tech-niques included MPR,MIP,SSD and CT virtual endoscopy (CTVE).3D reconstruction of the tympanic cavity,auditory ossi-cles,the inner ear and internal auditory canal were performed separately.Results:The relationship of each structure and the superficial as well as internal morphology were shown clearly.Conclu sion:SCT3D reconstruction can provide a complete and accurate visualization of the adult middle and inner ear structures.
