The Correlation and Significance of Tissue Factor and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Protein Expression in Colorectal Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of Tissue Factor(TF) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor(VEGF) in colorectal carcinoma and their relationship with clinical pathological features.Methods The expression of TF and VEGF in 40 cases of colorectal carcinoma were detected by ElivisionTM plus immunohistochemical method.Results The expression of TF and VEGF were not correlated with the growth type,location and histologic type of colorectal carcinoma(P0.05).The positive rate of TF expression was significantly higher in patients with lymph node than without lymph node(P0.01),The positire rate of TF exprossion was higher in patients with liver metastasis than without(P0.05),TF expression was significantly correlated with TNM stage and the depth of invasion(P0.05).The expression of VEGF had no correlation with the depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis and liver metastasis(P0.05).The incidence of VEGF expression in Ⅲ/Ⅳ stage was significantly higher than that in Ⅰ/Ⅱ stage(86.7% vs 52.9%,P0.05).TF postive carcinomas presented a higher VEGF expression than TF negative carcinomas.There was a positive correlation between the expression of TF and VEGF(r′s=0.517,P=0.001).Conclusion TF expression was associated with the invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma.The combination of detecting TF and VEGF expression is helpful to evaluate the prognosis of colorectal carcinoma.
