Abstract

Objective: To discuss serum level of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and intherleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with acute cerebrovascualar disease and its prognosis value. Methods: The serum levels of TNF-α and IL-6 of 115 case of cerebrovascular disease were measured by ELISA, among them, 59 cases of acute cerebral infarction, 56 cases of intracerebral hemorrhage, and 50 cases in the normal control group. Results: Serum level of TNF-αand IL-6 in patients with acute cerebral infarction and intracerebral hemorrhage increased distinctly compared with that of the normal ones( P0.01,P 0.05).And there was positive correlation between TNF-αand IL-6. The serum levels of TNF-αand IL-6 were associated with focus size, those of large focus and the medium focus were higher than that of small focus while that of large focus was obviously different from that of medium focus. Serum levels of TNF-αand IL-6 in patients with acute cerebrovascualar disease in acute onset period were clearly higher than those of recovery period. The contents of serum IL-6 in the ineffective and dead patients were remarkably higher than that of effective ones. There existed no difference in serum TNF- αof both groups. Conclusion: TNF-αand IL-6 are not only involved in the cerebral cells lesion, but also IL-6 can act as a prognosis index of acute cerebrovascular.
