Abstract

Objective:To discuss the clinical value of carotid color Doppler ultrasound using in extra cranial internal carotid artery stenosis disease examination.Methods:From July,2006 to October,2009,the arteries of 506 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease examining by DSA or carotid duplex ultrasound were analyzed retrospectively,98 cases of them were ICA stenosis.The sensitivity and specificity of extra cranial ICA were analyzed by carotid duplex ultrasound examination using DSA as a golden standard.The examined situation were compared in vary stenosis degrees.Results:The sensitivity of carotid duplex ultrasound in examining ICA stenosis was 74.6%,specificity was 99.4%,rate of accuracy was 96.4%,missed diagnosis rate was 25.4% and misdiagnosis rate was 0.56%.To examine mild ICA stenosis patients,DSA and carotid duplex ultrasound have statistical difference.To examine moderate and severe ICA stenosis patients,DSA and carotid duplex ultrasound have no statistical difference.Conclusion:Carotid duplex ultrasound can be widely used in extra cranial internal carotid artery disease early screening.
