Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation in high myopic patients with cataract. Methods 133 cases(157 eyes) with the axial lengths over 26mm received phacoemulsification and IOL implantation. Results Postoperatively, the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)≥0.5 was found in 97 eyes(61.78%),among them the axial lengths(AL) of 93 eyes was 30 mm (95.88%),and the AL ≥30mm was in 4 eyes(4.12%).BVCA 0.5 was found in 60 eyes (38.22%),from them 4 eyey(6.67%)were found with extensive macular artophy and one(1.67%) with macular hole.No severe complications were found. Conclusion The postoperative BCVA of high myopic patients with cataract is close related with the degree of macular atrophy, the AL and the skillful manipulation of operation.Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation is an ideal and safe oreration for cataract patients with high myopia.
