EVALUATION OF TENSION-FREE HERNIOPLASTY IN TREATMENT OF RECURRENT INGUINAL HERNIA

[Objective]To evaluate the therapeutic effect of tension-free hernioplasty in treatment of recurrent inguinal hernia.[Methods]Analyzed 67 cases of recurrent inguinal hernia patients who underwent tension-free hernioplasty retrospectively. Tension-free hernia repairs were performed in 67 cases of recurrent inguinal hernia patients,including 6 cases of mesh plug tension-free hernioplasty,10 cases of Lichtenstein operations,and 51 cases of preperitoneal hernioplasty.[Results]The average time of operation in unilateral and bilateral hernias was 73 minutes. The complications consisted of hematoma in one,postoperative pain in two and urinary retention in five. All patients recovered and left hospital in 3-9 days after operation. 88.4%(60/67)of patients were followed up from 5 to 36 months.[Conclusion]Tension-free hernioplasty is an effective method with fewer complications and lower rate of recurrence in treatment of recurrent inguinal hernia.
