Clinical analysis of tension-free hernioplasty of inguinal hernia 945 cases(1022 sides)

Objective To summarize and analyze the effectiveness of tension-free hernioplasty in treatment of inguinal hernia.Methods A total of 945 patients(1 022 sides) with inguinal hernia in our department who were treated with tension-free hernioplasty from January 2007 to February 2010 were retrospectively analyzed.Results The mean of operation time was 42 minutes.The mean of hospitalization was 8 days.There were 2 cases of subcutaneous hematoma,6 cases of wound infection,46 cases of scrotal hematoma,and 15 cases of chronic pain.The follow-up lasted 1 to 40 months with 766 eligible cases.There were 4 cases of recurrence among 766 cases(recurrence rate:0.52%).Conclusions The tension-free hernioplasty has lower complication and recurrence,which is safe and reliable for inguinal hernia repair.
