Abstract

In-vitro antioxiant activities of ethanoic extract from defatted Semen astragali complanati(ESA) have been investigated employing antioxidant activities in different systems including free radical scavenging activities on α,α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH·),super anion radical(O-·2),and hydroxyl radical(·OH),inhibition activity of Fe2+ induced lipid peroxidation,reducing power,and total antioxidant capacity,and the antioxidant activities have been compared with standard antioxidant L-ascorbic acid.The results show that ESA has a certain scavenging activity of DPPH·(IC50=419.1 μg/mL),a strong to super anion radical(IC50=117.9 μg/mL) and hydroxyl radical(IC50=224.4 μg/mL),a good inhibition activity against the lipid peroxidation(IC50=1.70 mg/mL),and an excellent total antioxidant capacity.As a result,ESA has strong antioxidant activities.
