Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effects of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) on the proliferation and cell cycle of odontoblast cell line MDPC-23.Methods:Cell culture, MTT colorimetric assay and flow cytometry (FCM) were used. Results: TGF-β1 significantly inhibited the proliferation of MDPC-23 cells in a time-dependent manner, but without dose-dependent manner. The results of FCM analysis showed that S% and (S+G 2M)of cell cycle was decreased, while G 1% was increased, when the cells were stimulated by TGF-β1. Conclusions: TGF-β1 inhibits the proliferation and DNA synthesis of odontoblast cell line MDPC-23.
