Abstract
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of treating knee osteoarthritis by oral administration of and external washing with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Methods:180 cases of knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,90 cases in each.Patients in the control group were given Glucosamine Sulfate Capsules,0.3 g each time,3 times a day;and Diclofenac Sodium Sustained Release Capsules,0.1 g each time, once a day.Based on the treatment of the control group, the treatment group was treated by oral administration of and external washing with TCM.The two groups were treated with30 days as 1 course, observing their clinical efficacy, knee joint functional classification and pain grading. Results:In the treatment group,13 cases were cured,65 cases were markedly effective,8 cases were effective, and 4 cases were invalid, the total effective rate being 95.56%;while in the control group,4 cases were cured,25 cases were markedly effective,31 cases were effective, and 30 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate being 66.67%.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P 0.05).After treatment, the knee joint functional classification and pain grading of the two groups were improved compared with those before the treatment(P 0.05),and the treatment group was better than the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion:Oral administration of and external washing with TCM in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis has an obvious curative effect,it is worthy of further popularization and application.
