Syndrome Differentiation of TCM External Treatment for 120 Cases of Knee Osteoarthritis

Abstract
Objective: To observe clinical effects of different external treatments for knee osteoarthritis. Method: All 120 patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group equally.Treatment group received TCM external treatment with recipes which contained herbs for external use,fumigation with herbs, inunction with herbs and TCM iontophoresis;control group used TCM lotion,once each day for both groups,seven days were one session,clinical effects were observed after two sessions.Result: Total effective rate of treatment group was 96.7%,total effective rate of control group was 78.3%,comparisons of both groups demonstrated statistical meaning(P 0.05).Conclusion: External treatment in treating knee osteoarthritis can obtain notable clinical effects,which should be used widely.
