Abstract
By using gallium sulfate as the catalyst, lactic acid and n-butanol reacted to form butyl lactate. Many effects were investigated such as amount of catalyst, reaction time, molar ratio of alcohol to acid and different carrying water agents.Experimental results showed that lactic acid 0.2 mol, molar ratio of alcohol to acid 2.4 ∶1,the catalyst 0.8 g and reaction time 60 min, toluene 15 mL,the yield is 95.5%.Gallium sulfate is the efficient, economic and environmental friendly catalyst.
