Study on Levels of TNF-α,Leptin and Insulin Sensitivity Index in Obese Rats

Abstract

Objective:To study the levels of serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),leptin and insulin sensitivity index(ISI) in diet-induced obesity(DIO) rats.Methods:The levels of serum TNF-α and leptin were measured by radioimmunoassay.Results:In the third week,the level of serum leptin of DIO rats was higher than that of the control rats(P0.05);In the twelfth week,the concentrations of serum TNF-α and leptin were significantly higher in DIO rats than those in control and DIO-R rats(P0.01);ISI was in negative correlation with the levels of serum TNF-α and leptin in DIO rats(P0.05).Conclusion:TNF-α may be in cooperation with leptin in insulin resistance(IR) related to obesity.
