Research progress in biological characteristics of Candida albicans

With the increased application of broad-spectrum antibiotics,immunosuppression,and cytotoxic therapies,Candida albicans,as a conditioned pathogen,has become one of the common nosocomial infection pathogen.Recent studies showed that the pathogenicity of Candida albicans depends upon hypothetical virulence factors including the adhesion to host cells,transition from yeast to mycelium,and production of secreted hydrolytic enzymes.The impacts on the evolution of drug resistance and adaptation to environmental stress rely on multiple machanisms and remain largely unexplored.Therefore,to understand the basic structure,genotype,pathogenesis,drug resistance of Candida albicans and the influence of environmental stress on Candida albicans has great clinical significance for disease diagnosis,treatment and prevention.
